Holt Youth Project
- Website design
- Visual identity
The Holt Youth Project has been serving the Children and Young People of North Norfolk for nearly 40 years and has been described in the press as “One of England’s most imaginative youth projects”. Outthought was commissioned by the charity’s trustees to redesign their website, a vital touchstone for both the youth members and their families, and external overseers of vital grants and funding.

The young people at the heart of the project
The Holt Youth Project’s previous website was full of information about the facilities available, the brilliant staff and youth workers, and the benefits of becoming a member. But there was something vital missing... The children and young people who make up the membership.
Outthought redesigned the site to put the young people at the heart of the design, replacing stock images that felt decidedly removed from the realities of life for young people in North Norfolk.

Energy, movement, action, and fun!
Outthought focused on injecting some of the infectious energy of HYP into the visual designs by showcasing images of the active, joyful experiences that members enjoy. By using isolated crops of energetic moments a sense of movement and depth was injected into the page designs.
A full copy rewrite sought to surface the incredible impact of the project over the past 40 years and into the future, and to shine a light on the brilliant, caring, and committed staff, not least the quite amazing founder of The Holt Youth Project, Julie Alford, BEM.
