Visit Keswick is the UKs oldest DMO dating back to the late 19th Century when the industrialists of the North West began sending their workers to the Northern Lake District for constitutional breaks (not without ulterior motive).

Today Keswick and the Northern Lakes is an internationally renowned tourist destination attracting a wide variety of visitors of all ages and all demographics.

Moving mountains to reposition Keswick for a new generation of visitors

Visit Keswick found themselves stuck in a groove. With so much beautiful landscape to showcase, as a destination the place should surely sell itself. The problem was, so could any other destination in the Lake District.

Outthought worked with stakeholders to define what makes Keswick unique vs local competition in the Lakes. What was special about, people, place, outlook, and most importantly, feel.

Heritage reimagined

The redesigned brand and identity balances Keswick’s remarkable heritage with a contemporary styling that embraces the active, culturally literate tourists it attracts today. The brand purposefully shifts towards a more graphic execution, informed by unmistakable Keswick vernacular, including the ubiquitous lakeland stone found in the architecture of the area.

A new chapter for Keswick

The new Visit Keswick brand and identity positions Keswick and the Northern Lakes as unique, youthful and highly visible in the region and beyond.

The result is a brand that feels unmistakably Keswick; rooted in its heritage, but with a fresh outlook and the flexibility to grow with the destination.

Working with the Outthought team has been a joy from start to finish, as soon as I met them I knew they would be great to work with. They listened to what I wanted for the new brand and website, it's like they climbed inside my head and were able to bring my vision to life, they took time to know our business, our area and heritage and then created something beautiful from that. The team was fantastic at communication and have been so supportive, it's been such a pleasure working with them all.
