A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

UK production company Filmotron commissioned Outthought to design and produce a pitch-book for a forthcoming HBO production of Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Working with Filmotron and a specialist picture researcher, Outthought designed and produced both physical and digital pitch books inclusive of all associated copywriting.

Open spiral-bound book displaying pages titled 'Of Rust & Steel' with images of metal textures and rust.
Open book titled 'Embracing Chaos' with spiral binding, displaying a collage of colorful and monochrome images on glossy pages.
Open spiral-bound book featuring a dark, atmospheric image of a castle with the text 'Revealing the World,' and paintings depicting a knight with a woman, and a chaotic medieval scene.

Vision problems

When HBO invited director Toby Haynes (Black Mirror, Andor, Sherlock, Dr Who) to pitch his take on the Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the primary problem, was how to express his expansive artistic vision in the limited format of a pitch book and deck.

Outthought worked closely with a specialist picture editor to create the overarching mood of the production and carried out extensive image manipulation and retouching to achieve Toby’s desired look and feel. The book was then structured across five chapters, expressing Toby’s proposed image systems and central themes, with Outthought providing creative copywriting.
